Hard Work pays Off!

I love going to craft shows and I live in an area that is seasonal. Which means we get lots of tourists during the winter months. I live on the West Coast of Florida and everyone who lives up north comes down here to escape the cold harsh northern winters.

Our in-person craft shows happen from August to March or April (mostly depending on when Easter falls). When the pandemic hit, there were no in-person craft shows and right about that time I was thinking, maybe I should go back to doing shows.

Instead, I put my items up for sale on my Etsy store and during the pandemic I did a booming business with my masks. But I wanted people to see my other products too. I took some online classes about promoting my online business and learned having a website was the better way to get my items seen.

I began working on the website and had some help getting it set up and started. Then I started adding more products to my site and more pages. It was all going well until something that was set up disappeared from the web site. Then I had to REALLY learn what I was doing and basically started the pages all over again.

So, I did just THAT!

I spent this past weekend participating in a 4-day online event (like a virtual craft show) and building the website. I am pleased with the outcome of the website.

There are a few things that still need tweaking and I will get to it. Right now, my focus is to build up the product. In other words, making more items to sell at some in person shows and on the website.

I tried selling my products at one of the local flea markets but that didn’t go so well. One thing the classes said was to find your perfect customer. I am not sure who that is. I have dolls for children, home décor, patterns, and a quilting service.

I’d like to think when a person clicks on my website, they can take their time and get some shopping done. If they need a baby shower gift, they will find it on the website, if they need to get grannie’s quilt finished, they will find it on the website.

Today, if you have read this far, please share the link with your friends and family. I will make it easy for you and put the link here: https://www.calico-junction.com/

Now you just have to cut and paste that into a text message to share.

I am glad you are here on the journey with me. Stay tuned for more fun!

Have a great week!!
