This activity helps all students (especially ESL) learn idioms by using short stories (great dSAT prep), pictures and a worksheet. Students are given a chance to explain what each idiom means. This activity is packed with 21 different idioms for students to learn. This is a great lesson to use as sub plans for your middle or high school students. There is a slide just for teachers with instructions on how to use the slides. There are five slides which include a short story about the origin of the idiom and students drag and drop the correct answer. There are five slides with pictures and the students have to determine which idiom the pictures represent and also explain what the idiom means. The last slide includes a google doc with a short story. Students read the story and highlight or underline the idioms and then explain what the idioms mean based on the story (using context clues). There are 14 slides in this activity.
